Decanted one hour. Dark purple. Massive extraction but so smooth. Heavy mouthfeel. Layer after layer of flavor. Can go many more years. One of the best CA Syrahs I’ve had in years. If you can find this you want this. Massive flavor. This is outstanding. Could be 95-96 but being conservative with score.

Simply a fabulous Syrah! Aired at room temperature for 1.5 hours in the bottle, then 30 minutes in the glass. Nose is leather & earth. Tart on the front and back tongue, but very smooth finish. As with other Quivet Hulda Block Syrahs, this is a bold wine with strong character, but pleasant to drink now.

I've been drinking the 2016 vintage, decided to see how the 2017 compared. Definitely try this vintage now! Will definitely continue to mature, but very pleasant now. Aired for 3 hours, drank at room temperature. Cherry nose, strong legs, slight bite on tongue and fruit finish. Like most Quivet Syrahs, I view this as a "bridge" wine - though a Syrah, it's got enough body to pair well with spicier food. Chili con carne in process here.
