Pop and pour. In the glass, pale, almost-clear yellow-gold. On the nose, honeysuckle, nutmeg, and Meyer lemon. On the palate, an elegant combination of smooth texture and a focused core of citrus fruit, with a beguiling mix of herbal and mineral notes playing around the edges. A very nice chard.

This tropical and layered Chardonnay may need another 6-12 months to unfold, but it's awfully tasty right now. Light yellow in color; full in body, aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, and vanillin. Flavors of lemon meringue, cantaloupe, chalk, and toasted almond, with a round and soft finish (read: little of the typical bite or intensity of Lato wines). 14.5% alcohol. This is more opulent and open-knit than many Lato whites at this stage, but it's still one of my favorites in his range - and one of my favorite domestic Chardonnays outside northern CA.
