Opened last night at dinner, recorked, and poured the remaining 7oz the next day after dinner, when this note was taken. Very waxy in complexion on the nose, very intense. Like an unsweetened lemon curd, covered in all kinds of powdered limestone. Soft and round palate entry, with really nice intensity developing. Really rich and luscious in the mouth with lovely intensity. Beautiful stuff and a wine that you can hold in the mouth forever and it just continues to provide pleasure. Massive intensity of integrated acidity. Nearly puckering on the finish, but it has this intense thick body in an interesting juxtaposition. I actually find this at a little bit of an awkward phase right now. It is all massive and brawny, without as much of the lovely harmony and elegance that this wine often exhibits. This was the first time I've had the '17, and I'll try to hold my bottles for some more years before cracking into them.

Needed about a half hour to break out of a very hard shell (honestly the tasting pour had me nervous) and then opened up gloriously over the rest of the night. Such great wines, pure fruit, not overly reductive, showing the fruit rather than the winemaking.

Starting to drink beautifully. White flowers and the most pure white peach fruits on the nose and palate. Some aniseed spice and loads of smoky mineral. Rich and fleshy, voluminous and powerful. Great underlying tension. Finishes with precision and power. Wonderful!

Cream, white peaches, honey and white flowers on the opening that was also persistent on the palate in an elbows out flamboyant fashion. Great density and complexity with purity of fruit. Fantastic intensity that got better with air and somehow more precise in glass. As ready as the 2018 in the line up of Lamy Caillat Caillerets tonight!

Decanted (in a Voss btl) for ~2+ hrs before this was served in a blind-flight. After the '14 Caillerets & ''18 Caillerets were served in previous flights, this came across as being the "most-ready". Pale-yellow, this was showy, with scents of white florals, peaches & a touch of smoke. What followed was as impressive as I last recalled the wine to be, with a elliptical core that had depth & complexity, but also fanned out across the palate with almost staining intensity endowed with a great level of extract. What's amazing about the Caillat Caillerets that I've tried is that they always seemed to get bigger with air/time but yet, also gaining clarity at the same time. An amazing btl of wine that will no doubt improve with cellar time!
