A pretty surprise even at this youthful time in its life as the wine is very much welcoming and giving at this stage. No decanting either just pop and boom. Classic and elegant, more of a young Bordeaux from a ripe vintage than a Napa Cab. Juicy and ripe yes but also in check and with a nice balance. Touch of a spicy edge but a lot more of a cool climate feel than anything . Very pretty 91-92 and with good life ahead albeit this makes for earlier drinking too if one must.

Not enjoyable after a two hour decant. Dark red fruit and pine forest, with a monolithic attack and a short, tannic finish. Began to loosen up and stretch out after about five hours.

In OCNJ with some steaks and veggies...this bottle was a gift, only one from this vintage. Decanted for 30 minutes prior to drinking.
Dark garnet core color. Nose showing dark fruits, minerals. Palate of black currant, blue fruits, mineral notes, pine cone. Medium body by Napa standards, medium/long finish. Was lacking a bit through the mid palate
Very nice wine from a great Napa vintner and terrific vintage. Should drink well for the next 10+ years. Longer decant would have benefited this wine

Dichtes purpurrot. Feingliedrige Früchte mit Brombeeren und etwas Konfitüre. Leichtes Leder schwingt mit. Braucht viel Luft und nicht zu kalt. Aktuell besser 3 Stunden vorher karaffieren.

17x Spottswoode (2x SB, 5x Lyndenhurst, 10x Estate Cab): Five vintages of Lydenhurst Cabernet Sauvignons side-by-side. These are good wines which share the signature (Napa) weightless structure and feel but the wines don’t have the substance and the complexity of the Estate wines and remain a bit simple. In addition, in all but the 2019 there were some alcohol notes detectable (especially on the nose). Still, pleasant, early drinking wines. Best wine was the 2019 (92pts), followed by the 2012 and 2018 (91pts).
TN: Fresh blue an black fruit, in 2016 fashion, fresh forest berries mixed with slate minerality. Slight heat. On the palate this is very fresh with fine red, blue and black fruit. Minerality but not much more. Very good precision. Rather light without much depth but overall pleasant with fine tannins and a well integrated good acidity.
Decanting: Opened 6 hours prior to the tasting. Quickly double decanted 2 hours prior to the tasting. No extensive decanting needed.
