All of XavierA’s descriptors apply here, seems I just enjoy them more. This producer is a well-known underachiever but hell, who else’s gran crus can you buy for so little. They develop secondary and tertiary stuff much sooner than pretty much anyone else’s stuff. Yet (during a visit there) I’ve tasted decades-old bottles that were glorious classic old burgundy. God knows what happens when the old guy “buys the farm” with only one daughter and the largest vineyard holdings in Gevrey Chambertin left behind(?)

A private tasting (Restaurant De Gieser Wildeman *, Noordeloos, Netherlands): Very mature appearance, almost completely bricked through but with some red in the core; warm and rich old-Pinot nose, fragrant, estery, lifted even but completely harmonious and together, beef stew, lovage and fresh red berries, fresh mushrooms; gentle palate, seamless, elegant, still retains some tannic grip, fresh and together, good length. Attractive in a way but old well before its time.

Very light red. Not much to this wine. Hardly any fruit. Nose is mint dusty floral hints of cherry. Gamey notes on the taste and nose. A bit of wood coming through. Good gaminess component. Little copper on the nose. Nice finish subtle finish. I would not actively seek this one out again.

Many similar qualities as other bottles but showing less fruit which negatively affected balance.

Sour cherries, forest floor, mushroom. Medium + body and acidity. Drink this NOW! Still nice but not sure it’s getting any better.
