Wow. Best Chardonnay I’ve ever had. So complex. Apple. Pear. Butterscotch. Mineral. Rich golden color. Aroma filled up the whole room. Double decanted after storing in the wine fridge for about a year. Can’t wait to try the 2018 in about a year.

Wonderful mouthfeel with layers of lemon curd, key lime pie, green apples, honeydew melon and pears. A long and rewarding finish. One of my favorite single vineyard wines from Aubert.

As with every other Aubert Hudson tasting note I’ve written, this only solidifies my thought that Aubert’s Hudson chard is best enjoyed closer to release compared to their other single vineyard designates. It is consistently delicious only a year or two after release with so much texture on the palate. It is loaded with yellow fruit, powdered sugar lemon bar, a “juicy fruit” note I commonly associate with Peter Michael chards, and a mix of herbs and savory salinity. It has a finish of baked Anjou pear and marzipan. Classic Hudson feel to it. Great mouthfeel thanks to rich viscosity and enough acidity to keep it entertaining.

Enjoyed this on a beautiful summer night. With salmon and roasted potatoes.
Aroma: ripe pineapple, white peach, Asian pear, dried mango, yellow kiwi, browned butter, and slate
Taste: canned pineapple, buttered popcorn, lemon meringue, kiwi, papaya, and salt
Finish: insanely smooth, long, and assertive- powerful
I can honestly say there isn't a way to construct this wine better. The balance of flavors, the evolution in the glass over the hour we enjoyed this, and the stately finish doesn't get better. While appreciating that this SV Aubert often doesn't receive the same recognition as Lauren, UV-SL, etc, this is the real deal. In the top five bottles of chardonnay I have ever drank!
