Slightly hazy, oddly brownish-tinged in color for such a young wine. Nose has black fruits, alcohol, and lots of oak. The toasty oak continues onto the palate, and unfortunately dominates. There is also noticeable heat from the ripe alcohol. On the plus side, there's a very good acidic backbone that keeps this from feeling sweet or jammy, and very subtle and nicely-integrated tannins. I get the feeling this is going to be showing much better 5-10 years down the road, as the oak mellows. Keep the cork in this one for awhile. The leftovers took an odd turn the second night - the tannins (and more heat) came out in full force, and the bit of fruit that was there was gone. Blind, I would have guessed it was a Rioja. $34 on sale for $28.

Pie cherry red. This wine was ultra-ripe with aromas of blueberry, raspberry and cherry. Elegant and fresh and vibrant. Fruit definitely a leading characteristic. Crisp acidity with complex notes of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla and toast. This is what turned me on to Drew and it still may be the best wine I have tasted from them.

Magenta in color. Ripe berries and spice on the nose. Nice earthy notes with hints of caramel, toast and cedar. Some candied red cherries. Very focused and clean. Silky smooth, medium to ripe tannins.

Deep, rich garnet in color. Medium to full-bodied. Spicy plum, forest and cranberry on the nose with floral notes and a touch of cedar. Blackberries and spicy red fruit ending with a long finish with some cherry tart. Very enjoyable Pinot Noir.
