Nice dark red in the glass. Nose has strong blackcurrant, blackberry, slightly vegetal aromas. Taste is of rich smooth, strong, dark fruits. Grippy, peppery, hint of vanilla. Interesting to try an SA Tempranillo.

What a surprise! I bought this in a bin end clearance from The Wine Society out of curiosity. If tasted blind I'm highly unlikely to have considered tempranillo as the grape responsible for the big dark fruited flavours of this wine. It's the colour of blue black ink and the nose and flavours are dark fruits - think of stewed damsons first (but without their astringency if cooked without sugar or their sweetness if cooked with) purple plums, perhaps blackberries and blueberries. Occasionally I want a big fruit bomb of a wine to go with hearty fare such as a beef stew or a barbecue. This fits that bill perfectly. I loved it and I'd order more if it was still available.

Red fruit and pretty sweet and ripe, the palate has mouth coating red cherry and sugar coated strawberry fruit with some ground black pepper. Technically dry but tastes too sweet for my tastes.
