  • Color: Medium-deep ruby. Clear. On the nose: Aromatic nose of perfumed florals meet strawberries and lilacs. Beneath that, there's a whiff of smoke, vanilla and leather. Very pretty nose overall. On the palate: Dry, medium-bodied, with lively to fresh acidity and medium soft, silky tannins. Moderate to powerful flavors of dark black cherries, black plums, and blackberries are met by earthy wet-forest-floor complexity in the mid palate, nice medium-toasty oak, and then the spice comes out: Black pepper (and a micro-hint of rosemary) meets fruit and some minerality, a hint of clove, and on to a dry, long (30-60 sec) finish. Then the latent finish: where a licorice component along with a return to fruit completes this lovely wine. I Splash-decanted 30-60 minutes prior to dinner, which allowed an early 'hotness' to blow off in short order. A small amount of sediment was noted. Paried with a balsamic vinegar boneless pork chop recipe to great satisfaction.

  • Deep purple red. Floral perfumed nose which augured well but was not quite rewarded on the palate; the initial burst of fruit tails off rather leaving a slightly tart finish.

  • Poured at a retailer tasting. Deep crimson red color. A well integrated Pinot. Very smooth and flowing wine. Currant, leather and some pepper notes on the finish. 88-90 points.
