Medium gold color with slight pink tint Medium plus/strong aromas of bruised apples and strong tropical notes - pineapple/ guava/ coconut with creamy background Medium bodied palate which echoes aromas - expansive mouthfeel with fairly bitter back end Medium/ medium plus acidity and medium plus alcohol with nice finish Well balanced overall with possible edge to alcohol Very pleasant wine but fairly one dimensional IMO and dominated by the tropical notes

Lots of pineapple, citrus, and tropical fruit notes on nose and palate. Dry with powerful acidity. Seems balanced. (Difficult to get more from the tiny tastings offered at the winery, but will post a future note when we consume a bottle.)
Based on our (tiny) tasting at the winery, this is a decent Petit Manseng, but an odd choice for a Governor's Cup winner. I'm a big fan of the varietal and this would not make my top ten list of Petit Mansengs from Virginia. For the best, try Glen Manor, Michael Shaps, and now Linden. Delaplane & Chester Gap have also made some decent PMs.

Virginia wines: Rich gold color. A bright and attractive nose of sea salt, white tea, waxy-oily tones and honey, on top of lemon curd and kiwi fruit. Rich textural depth on the palate, but ripping acidity (which I love), and the balance is on point. Tropical, a burst of lime, kiwi, green melon, but there’s a rush of underlying chalk dust, minerals, and sea salt that keeps it racy, lively, complex. A well-deserved spot on among the Governor’s Cup winners.

To the nose, pineapple > coconut > apple. On the palate, honey and pineapple over pear and coconut initially, with white peach joining in, then a hint of meyer lemon, vanilla and nut (almond?) after 30 minutes. More creamy/vanilla/birch beer/buttery than anticipated as warmed slightly. Good acidity and salinity. A full mouthfeel and a moderate-long length. Overall, evolved and increased complexity as it warmed slightly from 54F. [#1 in a Central VA petit manseng comparison.]
