Nice deep purple color in the glass. Oak and vanilla dominate the nose. The wine was smooth on the palate with the typical characteristics of merlot but with a little more backbone (from the 15% cabernet I presume). All in all an enjoyable wine with beef - and it delivered a taste experience that I would expect from a $20-ish bottle of red from the northern end of the Napa Valley.

GV gave it 79 and bashed it for too much oak. I just didn't see this as an "oak monster". The wine reminded me of a pleasant, but uninteresting Bordeaux and there certainly was more oak than you would normally taste in a French wine. The fruit on the palate went a little to the "fake" end of things - the mid palate and finish I tasted green pepper. The wine also didn't seem to have much in the way of tannins - after 2 hours decanted it seemed to start to go flat and bitter.

(BERINGER ALLUVIUM RED) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-huge Oak Monster; a disaster; TASTE-this is like biting and eating the corner of your Oak desk..@ the 3:33 mark of WLTV Episode #310, GV proclaims, "this wine has as much WOOD in it as a 9th grade gym class w/ pretty girls in it"; some lushness & blackberry; 86-87 point wine for many; some nice mouthfeel & complexity & some secondary fruit (mulberry); but too over-Oaked for me; there's a really austere almost rubbing alcohol aspect on the finish; GV-79
