Unlike most Ojai Syrahs that hit their stride 10 years after their vintage year, this offering likely won’t make old bones because of the “no sulphites added” winemaking. However, it’s wide open for business now. Electric purple in the glass with a moderately viscous necklace. You can tease out some herbs and tea leaf in the nose; perhaps some plum. Plush and fruit forward on the palate with cinnamon and nutmeg notes and then garrigue, tea leaf and tar notes in the finish. Purchased some bottles to serve friends who are more sulphite sensitive. Worth Seeking Out.

50/50 Grenache/Syrah blend. Quite dark plum color in the glass. A surprising almost smoky nose. I anticipated lots of fruit on the tongue, and, sure enough--blackberry and stone fruit A bit of spritz around the edges of the tongue--probably acid. Medium bodied and refreshing--probably justifies another shout ou to the acid. A very enjoyable wine.

Very pleasant. Lighter than most Ojai syrahs. Lots of berry and spice notes. Nice balance with little tannin. Drink now.
