Agree wholwheartedly with YankeeRobio's notes. This wine is drinking like it's young and needs a big decant to fully open and soften. Regardless, it is a beautiful wine that has notable power yet is not a monster or overblown. Great structure that follows through the finish. The mouthfeel is pure and glides over the palate. Many layers to it that build with air. Serious wine! Great QPR.

1 hour decant. Stunning, strong and bold out of the gate. Powerful yet tamed tannic structure. Blueberry, blackberry, super ripe plum, cocoa nib and tobacco. Settled three gear gem of a wine.

Great wine for a Wednesday night dinner. Nose of voluminous red berries and ripe plum fruit. Taste palate of same as nose with fall tiled soil and currants. Great with pepper steak from bbq, asparagus, radicchio, twice baked potatoes.

Limited experience w Relic in general and first time w this label. After three hours of bottle air this was pretty tight so I corked it and saved it for the next day.
I won’t pretend to recall last nights nose but it’s nondescript day 2….. However the wine itself is stellar. Hits the palate in a tame, well integrated manner with a velvety, tannic coating. But aerate on the palate and you rip off that coating to reveal a classic calicab. Screaming blueberries before crushed stone makes a faint appearance; blackberry and cherry tobacco as well. There’s a bit of heat but it quickly disappears.
It’s rare that I’ll call out a $125 wine and say it punches above its price point, but this does. I’d trade 2 bottles of Shafer HSS for 5 of this any day. Just decant this when you’re having your morning pancakes.

4 hour decant. Came out of the gate strong, dark blue and black fruit, slight tobacco. No bite at all. Didn't develop as much as I thought over time. Still a very good wine
