  • This was a good bottle similar to prior ones other than the January 2023 drinker

  • Nice drinker. Full body with age with some Howell mount cab notes but subdued. Good and balanced but not great. Best with red meats. This bottle was not as good as prior ones drank in 2020 and 2021. There were two different bottlings one later than the other but still in 2017. Not sure if this was the first or second offering which I found to be somewhat better. I would consider this marginal for the price point paid.

  • This is a very smooth Howell Mountain cab. Not as intense or tannic as some from Howell Mountain but I have found mixed notes depending on the producer. Med to full body, dark fruits, low to medium acidity with a smooth finish. If you swirl the wine in your mouth, the acidity presents itself much more so than just drinking it straight as the fruit and texture cover it up. It is not sweet as another taster noted, but not very dry either. It is in the Austin Hope category where balance with fullness makes the wine quite enjoyable without the alcohol dominating on the finish. Not spectacular or overly complex, just nice full-body drinking wine. Good with food.

  • Hmm. I'm usually a huge EotV fan. Magic. Coombsville. Atlas. And I'm also a huge Howell Mountain fan. So I had high hopes for this wine, particularly at this price point. Color is ruby. Nose is pleasant. Black tea, rose, a hint of musk. In the mouth, it's quite sweet, course tannins, low acid, black fruits and a hint of vegetal elements. Overall, quite underwhelming. Hope it'll improve with age as I have another 10 bottles still...

  • Medium-plus weight, smooth, lush, and balanced. Mixed black and red fruits with soft tannin. Medium length finish and acidity is restrained. Ready to drink now but can hold an extra couple of years as well. Friends enjoyed it very much.
