  • Very good. 14.5% alc. Hot alcohol character evident on bouquet and palate. Otherwise my comments align very much with the great description by penguinoid from whom I quote substantially below.
    Colour: dense black berry
Bouquet: 'plum, blackberry, blackcurrant. Blueberry. Sour cherry. Cranberry. Lots of a sweet, rich, ripe, fleshy red and black berry fruit', plus spice.
Palate: 'plum, blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant. Cranberry. Rich, ripe, fleshy black fruit. Sweet spice... Rich, full bodied, fruity'. Little oak character but there is a grainy fruit tannin element. Shortish finish. Grenache characters dominate the crossing with the perfumed fruitiness, but the cabernet gives it a bit of depth and grip/spine.

  • Colour: dark cherry red
Nose: plum, blackberry, blackcurrant. Blueberry. Sour cherry. Cranberry. Lots of a sweet, rich, ripe, fleshy red and black berry fruit. Sweet spice.
Palate: plum, blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant. Cranberry. Rich, ripe, fleshy black fruit. Sweet spice. Don’t think there was much, if any oak. Fresh, lively, berry-like acidity. Slightly drying, fine grained, structural tannins. Rich, full bodied, fruity. 14% alcohol.
Not really like either Cabernet sauvignon or Grenache -- but if this is typical of Marselan, it suggests the variety has great potential.
