Like a dry vintage port: dark fruits, blackberry & kirsch. The edges were smoothed off, velvety texture, although there was a touch of alcoholic heat. Lovely.

Glad we waited longer for this last bottle to learn more. Still outstanding, but yes definitely softening (not the same as fading) versus what I remember from earlier (esp 2014 tasting, unfortunately no notes between then and now. :-\ ). Tannins are just a hint now, fruit lightened up a bit but remain thru mid-palate nicely, no funk, still a nice long finish that highlighted the savory herbs & spice.

I think this has reached the end of the road. The tannins are very soft, the red fruit is predominant, leaves the wine sweeter than previous bottles but still very enjoyable, coped with the duck beautifully

For whatever reason, this was dramatically better than any previous bottle I have had of this cuvee, from any vintage. This showed cherry and earth on the nose, and black cherry, blackberry, currant, and notes of clove, anise, and black pepper on the medium to long finish, with light tannins and strong acidity. I wish all of my bottles had been like this one. This was a bargain at around $40, but given the bottle variation I'm not inclined to look for more. The Cellartracker drinking window looks about right.

Deep colour, bright appearance. Good nose chocolate, dark fruit, reasonably long taste
