Big, spicy and sweet with a finish that's almost cloying but not quite, having lost a lot of its early acidity. Too heavy for the duck dinner I took it to but surprisingly killer, in lieu of port, with the chocolate chip and Gand Marnier soaked raisin cookies our hostess Suzanne served later.

Needed a fruity red for an Asian main course, and this was perfect. Mostly tempranillo and touriga nacional, IIRC, it offers a lot of fruit cake spiciness on a solid red fruit base. A bit more oak-prominent than would be my druthers, but that will integrate with time.

Winner of a blind tasting of “Thanksgiving reds”. A lot of bright cranberry (wink wink) and a touch of spice. After a few hours open the finish fell apart a bit and immediately slipped into sharp acidity. Crowd pleaser. Port varietals.

Deep opaque red. Nose of ripe blackberry, Ripe red current, coffee and toasty oak. Full bodied, great fruit with balancing tannin. Long finish.
