With Rose season supposedly coming to an end. I pulled a bottle of La Nerthe Cotes du Rhône Les Cassagnes from Tavel, a younger vineyard area of Chateau La Nerthe. Composed of 50% Grenache Noir, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Cinsault I was very pleased with the structure and acidity of this Wine. Having the typical salmon color there are a plethora of orange and yellow fruits noticeably tangerine, peach, grapefruit and pear both on the nose and on the palate with a little bath of blood orange on the finish. It’s bright, fruity and very well balanced and after 48 hours under some Private Preserve, still maintains some great structure and a little bit more complexities. I had it with some Parmesan crusted cod but I’m thinking this could go with anything from hamburgers to shrimp cocktail, crab dip any mild fish like tilapia or better yet smoked salmon or any light white sauced pastas. My score 89+.

Over a few days
Lurid pink in glass, a bit surprising considering the weight and heft of the serious bottle
Texture is a bit overdone, seems to be from a heatwave
Ok, but a food wine rather than a quaffer
