  • Praise be to the powers of...
Opened two completely blown bottles and figured all six were crap. But on this third lucky day I opened a splendid bottle. Amazingly fresh. Tons of fruit and complexity. Quite lean but in a delicious way. I loved it but I have a hard time paying for three bottles of tertiary Burgundy to have one good one. Also, I can't imagine Jon at Garagiste didnt know these were plagued by being garbage before selling them...

  • Second wine i have tried of 6. First one was completely blown and smelled of mediocre madeira. This one smells marginally better but has a terrible one dimensional palate where the only thing left is oxidized flavors and high acidity. Ahh, Garagiste how you have screwed your people again...I was so pumped on the Garagiste train till I started opening the wine. Now I am in the 'I don't think I will ever trust Jon Rimmerman but I may buy from them if I know the specific wine' camp

  • Popped and poured at a blind white Burgundy tasting. The nose was intriguing, definitely oxidative with notes of bruised apples, quince, hard cheese, and a touch of brioche. I enjoyed the bouquet and it seemed about right for a nearly-12 year old Burgundy. The palate was light and the acidity still present. Some lime/citrus, saline, yellow apple, and spices came through. A touch of oak was a nice addition, and the texture was pleasantly complex. For $20 off Garagiste, I consider this a good purchase.
