  • Minimal sediment; light ruby, age appropriate color; aromatic, strawberry, lovely earth to add complexity; palate is light bodied, lovely fruit with some tertiary complexity, high acidity; medium-plus finish. Early maturity, lovely and vibrant burgundy showing just early maturity. For the release price and current market price, a real burgundy value. 90

  • This bottle was also excellent, especially with a roasted chicken and vegetables. Sweet cherry, a nice earthiness, good acidity, and an herbal presence on the finish made it a compelling match with the food.

  • Some VA on the nose. Pretty wine, with nice fruit still showing, integrated with forest floor, earth, mushroom and soft finish. This wine was still a great food beverage that has past its prime. Drink now or forever hold your peace.

  • This bottle was so much better than what I remembered when I wrote my last note! Lovely sweet red fruit dominates from the nose and then on the palate, finishes with a touch of spice and chalkiness (as noted). But it is the quality of the fruit rouge that stood out, hopefully from bottle age and not variation since I have several more.

  • With salmon. Bricking on the rim. Very pretty nose with delicate red fruits and not much else. A bit monolithic on first sip but with that nice sour cherry Savigny bite, but also with some greenery. Chalky finish. This rounded out nicely with air time and also developed a steely component. While, overall this is nice, and hard to argue with almost any decent '05 Burg, this is not awesome. For $32 (in 2008) it is certainly respectable.
