A selection from this producer for thanksgiving - drank with the 2005 & 2008 we purchased in 2011 from Pattie at Durniere Goute on the left bank. I preferred the 05 and 08 for interest with the 2008 edging out the 5, but the 17 was the winner for the evening as it displayed the complexity and potential of the older bottles while still having some fruit and finesse and fun. Love this producer! Had the 2014 white the next day - that was stunning and was the favorite for the weekend.

Nose: black pepper, raspberry jam, chambord, cooling mint; wisps of tilled earth. Palate: Sweet red plums; light pepper; tannins are barely noticeable early, but later they really assert themselves on the finish where they are smoothly thick; 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, and 20% Cinsault. We didn't finish the bottle on day one, but when it was revisited two days later it was incredible; there was an emergence of leather, musty earth, and dried raspberries. On day one I would have given this an 88; however, on day three, I'd give this a 92, so overall I'll give it a 91 now knowing this has some serious aging potential. Also as an aside, the front of the label says 13% ABV, but the back label says 14.1% (?).

Very syrah-forward (edit: no syrah in this! Surprised by that), funk and meat and red fruit, good body through the core, tannins aren't chunky but definitely not smooth either... feel similarly as last year, there's a lot of beautiful texture here without much depth, and I miss this being around $25 where it was really great value.
