  • A bit of a unicorn, made as a one-off by Torbreck for the Lost Highway charity project. Hits the sweet spot for a new world Syrah. Impeccably balanced, with intense red fruits and minerals, but nothing over the top, and it borders on elegant. Drink over the next year or two.

  • Acquired on auction. Clear dense opaque purple to dark garnet. Very little thinning at rim and no signs of brick. Medium intensity tobacco, black peppers , plum, truffles and shrooms. Thick creamy mouthfeel for full bodied balanced big wine. Long finish of bacon, dark plums, pepper, dark chocolate. High quality wine from likely small production. Balanced and integrated. Able to cellar another 5 years or more. Questionable if there is still upside though.

  • Tasted blind. I did not like this a bit and couldn't get past the weird nose. Not my cup of tea.

  • This is a superb wine. I was pretty afraid to open this, thinking it was some sort of franken-wine, but fear was ill founded. Big and bold, yes, but time has been really kind and this is now a really well balanced, large scaled syrah with loads of character. Deep blackberry and dark cherry fruit on both nose and palate. Some hints of smoked bacon and blood. Juicy well balanced palate with loads of fruit and a soft dry finish with great length. Pretty pure fruit, delicious.

Think I bought this originally for $100 at the height of the Shiraz "boom" - not good QPR - but time has teated this well. It does have a pretty cool label.....

  • utterly terrific wine. it is in a great place right now and i dont see how aging it any longer will do anything special. that said it's very sturdy and age probably wont effect it negatively.

this is a lovely berry medley on the nose and the palate is long and structured nicely with great acid and very delicious. serve it slightly chilled and give it a couple hours decant.
