The third bottle was more tasty. Black current, layers of fruit. Bitter tannins straight out of the bottle which dissolved a bit over the evening. Perhaps best to spread out consumption of the remaining three.

Drank one shortly after picking it up: was that my error? PnP. Quite acidic, linear. A decent wine, but not as impressive as I had hoped. Alright at 20$, but way too pricey at 50$. Perhaps better in two years or so? Grade 90. … Drank another one in February 2022: better than I remembered and, interestingly, quite a bit better on the second day. Upgrading to 91.

Monte de Oro Blind CA Meritage Tasting (Temecula, CA): Tasted blind. Overall favorite from the tasting. Loaded w red currants, floral and mild tobacco in the nose. Bright currant fruit that stays with you throughout the palate. Touches of violets and coconut followed by tar and rich earthy/tobacco notes. A well made, balanced and nuanced wine.
