Rob gave me this bottle five years ago and kept reminding me of it, so he was over last night and we decided to drink it. Since we did not have time to let any sediment settle, we poured from the bottle, which is of the heavy, deep-punted type. The wine presented as deep purple/red. Nose was complex with dark fruit, oak spices. Palate smooth and full. Finish medium-long with fruit and oak entwined. Went well with beef tenderloin steaks. Would have preferred to wait another five years and properly aired to fully appreciate the wine.

Opened/partially decanted 2 hrs before blind tasting, then re-bottled for event. DARK purple-to-black, dark fruit, smoke, baking spices, on the nose without the customary pepper. Really smooth on the palate, tannins are integrated well, but this wine may improve with even more time. Really nice fairly expensive ($25/btl) from K7L in 2009. I would buy lots more at this price now!

Deep red/black colour. Blackberry and black cherry are complimented with baking spice notes and vanilla on the highly expressive nose. The dark fruits carry on to the palate where they create a very intense flavor profile. Full bodied and still somewhat tannic, this is a powerful wine. But the balance here is very precise and tannin, fruit, alcohol and oak are all there and in equal measure so no aspect overpowers. A delicious expression of Syrah, powerful but smooth, one of the best the New World has to offer. Just entering maturity and could go up to a decade longer. www.advinetures.ca

Fine sediment. Notes of leather and oak. Tannins have softened. The classic Syrah flavors are there, with a bit of a spicy kick. Excellent now.

Really meaty, stone fruit and berries with an earthy finish.
