  • Purchased for $14. This was a really "educational" bottle for only $14. This red is a blend of 58% Grand Noir, 22% Trincadeira and 20% Aragonez. Grand Noir you say? Yes. At first, I thought this was the first time I've ever had made with Grand Noir. Until I looked it up. It's also known as Baga. My second favorite Portuguese varietal. I wonder why they decided to call it Grand Noir. Anyway, this is also fermented in clay pots, called Talha in Portugal. How much learning can you do with one bottle of wine? Apparently, a lot. Tons of that amazing Portuguese spice. It just really shines here. Notes of red cherry, some dates or fig and some slate. Firm tannins and balanced acidity. This was really good after about 2hrs of air. What a great surprise to start the weekend. Grade: B+

  • Bam bam intens robijnrood in het glas. In de neus braam, kers, hout, natte aarde, tabak. In de mond medium zuren, intense body. Gemiddelde tanninen. Dit is wel een mond vol fruit, hout ook met wat vanille. Het komt wel binnen maar helemaal mijn stijl is dit niet. Het is niet zo subtiel.

  • Distinguishable ethyl acetate on the nose masks most of the fruit aromas but some citrus and dark berries peek through. Not unpleasant on the palate with red berry flavors. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Well balanced - acid, fruit, tannins and alcohol work in harmony. Almost a good wine.
