  • Colour: medium(+) purple
Nose: medium(+) intensity, secondary, youthful. Red and black plum, cassis, blueberry. Touch of green bell pepper. Violets. Cedar, tobacco, vanilla. Forest floor, warm earth, leather. Black tea.
Palate: dry, medium(+) tannins, medium acidity, high alcohol (14%), medium bodied. Medium intensity, medium(+) length finish. Red and black plum, cassis, blueberry. Touch of green bell pepper. Violets. Cedar, tobacco, vanilla. Forest floor, warm earth, leather. Black tea.
Conclusions: very good. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. P&P (pop&pour), not decanted. Purchased retail recently.
    Seal: natural cork
DAY 2: still very good. Good tannin and acid structure. Maybe a bit more savoury than yesterday, with tomato and forest floor to the fore, and a slightly saline finish. Lovely.

  • Heavy tannins - maybe I opened too early or didn’t decant?

Overall disappointing- forest floor, ripe blackberries, Cassius, tobacco. Solid table wine.

  • Deep garnet. Soft fruit nose. Plum, licorice, pepper, mint, oak, ripe cherry in a soft tannin package. Light savoury, touch of astringency. Medium bodied. Delicious wine.

  • Bought at Chateau d’Issan, its a second wine of Chateau d’Issan, made from a blend of 52% CS, 48% Merlot, aged in oak, 35% new. Deep ruby colour. Intense, fairly dense and concentrated aroma of cassis, vanilla, violets, cherries, earth, tobacco, rustic meaty touch. Medium+ body, silky texture, elegant structure, feels fresh, but approachable with earthy blackcurrants, leather and smoky hints, medium+ acidity and fine medium+ tannins.

  • This is a great bottle that I opened too early
    Dark red/purple in colour
Big notes of cigar, black tea, some berries and some funk
This is a tannic wine with med + acidity great for lamb sirloin
Back end there is some stone/graphite.
I have two more bottles to see what happens as they age
