ok bit tannic and mute must wait longer.... corked and left at cellar for 6 days was ready for oxidative sour wine and likely toss, but I am glad I tasted it again Now we have a lovely cab w leafy mint and cedar on nose and now tannin is soft w cassis fruit! 90+

Pop and pour. Tasted on its own. Refrigerated and tasted again the following day. Dark purple color. Nose offers dark fruits and hint of oak. Good red and black fruit on the intro - cherry, plum and hint of mint. Tannins are nicely integrated. Oak accent on the mid-point. Very good wine. A nice Cabernet but nothing extraordinary.

A disappointing wine for me, given how much I enjoy the SCM Estate Cabernet and of course Monte Bello. The note on the back of the bottle talks about depth of fruit and 20 years of development, this is a very soft, almost right bank wine that should be consumed in the next 5-8 years tops. It's very four square and while not bad wine, certainly isn't worth the $70-80 they charge for it. Big fan of Ridge in general, including the Zins, Syrahs, Chard, etc - this is subpar.
Obviously super young but I was tempted to try one of two to see if I needed more. It's not structured like the Estate Cab or MB and reminds me of a right bank Bdx despite being 100% cabernet. Lots of barrel spice and packed with ripe fruit. Will be interesting to follow.

Another Year, Another Napa (aka Winter in Wineland IV); 1/5/2020-1/11/2020 (Napa/Sonoma California): Cabernet sourced from the lowest vineyard in the Monte Bello plot. Again the darker fruits, very balanced, a bit of dustiness to it, very fresh and well structured, needs some time but will be very good and a nice value.
