tldr: delightful, juicy fruit-forward backed with a spicy finish; could use more layers/complexity to really shine; paired well with carnitas tacos. color: med purple nose: fragrant, dark rich fruit, lots of baking spices, crushed gravel, soft oak. body: med/med+ acid: med+ alcohol: guessed 14%; actual 13.5% palate: ripe blackberry, tart black cherry, cardamom; dusty dark cocoa, gingersnap cookie; med drying tannins

Elegant-transparente Ausprägung von Zweigelt aus Nussdorf bei Wien. Moderater Alkoholgehalt, schlanke Mineralität, kühle Frucht und feine Kräuterwürze - im Sommer ein echter Genuß!

Zweigelt is a grape I haven't paid much attention to and I still believe Austria is a highly underrated wine-country wich "flew under my radar" for years. Austrian producers like Hirsch, Muhr-Niehpoort, Wiengut Brundlmayer and now Hajszan Neumann certainly opened my eyes to these regions. The nose is packed with red fruit and the palate is covered with sour red cherries, savory spices, minerals and sorrel combined with minerals. This wine has fruitiness, warmness and elegancy. Not a bad effort at all...
