2 hr double decant and ready at that point. For my palate, perfect mix of secondary and tertiary notes. Blackberry, dried blueberry, dried black cherry, black licorice, fresh cut green herbs, tilled earth, wet forrest floor. Tannins in perfect harmony providing an awesome backbone for a great palate flow front to back. Slight Brett on the nose but not distracting. Long finish. This is in a near perfect spot and great balance between big Napa (15.2 AC) and BDX (earthy notes).
No need to wait any longer when it’s this good now! I’ll start finishing off my stash in the near term.

Napa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: Home-run wine. Hitting on all cylinders with black and red fruit showcased on a base of some early secondary notes of earth and mountain forest. My favorite of the tasting. I preferred this to the 2013 O’Shaughnessy Mount Veeder the day prior. The lower altitude Progeny vineyard shows through with a little more fruit and slightly less structure.
Napa Visit 2023: Fran, Hill, Chris & Tracy; 7/9/2023-7/14/2023 (Napa, CA): Tasted at Winery. This wine had the purest mountain fruit expression that I can recall tasting for many years: vivid red fruit, some sweetness, great structure in a smooth, fully integrated wine. At 10 years, I think this 2013 Progeny Reserve cab is at peak drinking. Alas, I bought 2018s with a plan to lay down for years and hope for similar evolution. For me, this was the wine of the week. Bravo to the team at Progeny.
Showing great right now with plenty of tanins still at play. I decanted almost two hours but would suggest 2.5 hrs because it still took time to completely open up. Silky when it did...

One of the smoothest 2013 napa cabs I’ve had thus far. Share with the sommelier. From him, on the nose, black and blue fruit, violets and crushed rocks. On the palate, blackberry jam, anise, black currant with firm tannins and some spice. Long, smooth finish.
