  • A marvelous Bourgogne rouge. Guesses favored a 19 1ere cru from CdN, but this is dense and weighty. Sappy strawberry and boysenberry, pomegranate. Red fruited but dense. Drinks a bit more extracted than I’d imagine at the BR level. Impressive and quite good. If one is holding for development we are more than 5 years away.

  • Served blind I thought with was a '19 Côte de Nuits 1er. Dense and concentrated, and a bit heavy, with a nice mix of red and blue fruits. Nice spine of acidity. Lengthy fruity finish. Still has it's baby fat.

  • The 2017 Coche-dury Bourgogne Pinot Noir was quite a surprise. Very structured and dense. A hint of sauvage/animale on the nose, but otherwise mostly black cherry, blackcurrant, leather, cigar box and old barrel. The palate is rather ripe and excessive, largely just coffee, chocolate, assorted spices, chewing tobacco and blackberry jam. With ~3 hours of air the wine starts to lighten up, gain balance and some raspberry and cranberry tones join in, making me round up my rating from 83 to 85. High quality fruit and winemaking clearly, but don't open if you're expecting a classic 2017 BR.

  • Blinded. Tons of tightly coiled power on open. Popped into a decanter for an hour, and the wine shows sweet red fruit, earthy, man full of intensity on the fruit tho. Guessed 1er cru red from a classic producer. Surprising for a BR.

  • Enjoyed this bottle on my birthday with Japanese A5 wagyu steak (what a treat, eh?!?!). It is simply superb. Probably the best "Bourgogne rouge" I've ever had. So much freshness, depth and length for the level. Obviously you are paying way too much in the secondary market (I paid $165), but I love to try a Coche wine once in a blue moon, if I can.
