11.5% abv. AP 06. How can I be angry at the gods of hidden bottles? I am damned to rebellion. My heart lights up though, blinded, when I see a strategically placed bottle of this 2018 at my local Riesling shop. Exotic, lean, yoga-toned body lines (this wine, the taste of it) lead in scrupulous distance to savage Pouilly-Fuisse, feral Chigny, and heckin' Clos Allées. Why am I wading in a quarry of melon cobbles? What curious species of mint apple is this? Thanks to all my friends who forgot to sell this bottle.
11.5% abv. AP 06. Striking color. Luminescent, high chroma, a mark of certain Mosel Rieslings with age. The smell is thrilling. Tempered, subterranean, botanical delight, twilled and highlighted with drops of yellow sunlight. It volunteers rinsed moss on calcium, wilted and impacted spring herbs, and lemon seed liqueur. A mouthful is an uncommon meeting of refreshment and introspective gravity. Vintage marks include relaxed, broadly lithic substance. It's so busy with its excavation, that the spine of robust, vitigenic acidity slashes like a missile unencumbered through the expansive middle and finish. Wowee. Last time I drank this it was during the winter season; today is the muggiest day of the summer season. I think I prefer it this way, slightly. In its core there is analog of quenching, dry tea, and cucumber stone. Or maybe there are other obscure variables.
I've been a Willi Schaefer fan for decades, but found myself marginalized by scarcity and cruel financial calculations. What a treat to find this relatively basic item validating all the remoteness and hype, however self-imposed that were.

11.5% abv. AP 06. EYE: bright goldening white-green. NOSE: Lemon frosting. Green plum skin. Brittle, minty soil. MOUTH: telltale grip-worn 2018 acidity commands a startling landscape of gummy stone, emotionally mature lemon curd, and a florid, herbaceous bloom of mint and arbor vidae. Pristine clarity contrasts with lurid stone fat. Rigid salt structure. Ornamentation contrasts with thrust. As loaded with information as a drink of this is, the finish rinses away stylish and weightlessly. Wowee.

Hints of tropical fruit and honey point to Riesling, as well as a dry, medium weight citrusy tart finish. Good balance but short and a tad generic. Ok basic Riesling but not special.
