This was very smooth with ripe yellow fruit and a hint of butter. Oak levels and acidity both seemed balanced to me. I have yet to try a Painted Rock I don't like and this Chardonnay—the only white they produce—is no exception. This has the acidity to last another few years but it drinks well right now.
Clear light yellow. Woodworking shop, hardwood cut with a dull table saw blade, acrid smoke. Toasted oak, and butter flavours and an oak driven dry finish.
I will not score this. This is a wine in search of the dump bucket.
One of my favourite Chardonnay in the valley. After a few vintages that were more mineral and old world in style, the 2018 is the perfect mix of old world/new world. Notes of high quality oak with a good dose of orchard fruits. Balanced and long. Enjoy now and over the next 7-9 years. Buy, buy, buy.
