  • Bought this on release in Rome and have cellared in climate controlled environment since. My last of 6 bottles and showed better than the previous 5.

Medium colored garnet with a watery and rose petaled rim.

Green tobacco, plum, leather, baker's chocolate, spearmint and tertiary notes of pan forte on the nose.

Fine tannins, red and black fruit fruits, dark chocolate and naval orange juice on the finish. Still has vibrant acidity and overall very nice balance. So fresh after 25 years.

  • Really very good. Sour funk when opened that blew off after a few minutes. decanted and it needed it. Was a bit harsh right out of the bottle but settled down nicely. tannins softened to show great dark fruit with nice minerality and dirt with a good long finish.

  • Decanted 2 hours now. Still looking young, a rich dark red, black fruit color. Nose is not that great. Sharp leather, dry oak, dried fruit. Guess it smells Italian, duh. Palate is light, dancing across the palate, the fruit is mature, not as forward as I am used to in this wine. That fat Merlot mountain Italian fruit has given way to austere delicate flavors. Going nicely with the beef and risotto. This is a dry wine, the fruit giving way, the tannins are still there, gripping on the finish. With the last bits in a glass getting some real smoky notes on the nose, really nice.

Last glass. This has gone to that "porty place" now. Still the tannins and finish's are tight, huge fruit, killer. A confused state for me. Half me says Jesus the tannins are tight, the other says the fruit was too ripe when picked up drink up.

In the end I love this wine, it's place & varietal.

  • Deep dark red. Dark red and black fruit, dark chocolate, touch of coffee bean on the palate. The palate is intense, red fruit, good acidity. There is a touch of greenest on the finish.

  • MUch better than on my last tasting. Garnet in color, on the nose this shows very fruity notes, with sour cherry, sweet tobacco, spices. Good acidity in the mouth, though not overly complex, with a bitter orange and chocolate finish.
