Color: deep garnet _ absence of bricking Nose: earth, plum, leather Taste: plum, cherries, tar, anise My…how a few years (13!) have helped this wine to evolve. Lots of fruit upfront still with well integrated secondary flavors. Tannins have softened and are no longer biting with a round ,soft mouthfeel to finish. Worth the wait. Drinking in a great spot now.

Wow, great wine! Decanted about an hour and found a nose of dark fruit but not big. Mouth was full and long with dark cherry, walnut, a little tobacco. Loved it!

Fascinating Aglianico, and wow, a complete turnaround. Nothing happening on the nose and palate during the first glass (Audozed 60 minutes). Some camphor, a little earth, and, with heavy swirling, a bit of red/black fruit. Resigned to my obvious fate, I set into this with a lunch of sausages, pomodori, piselli, and parm-regg - again, not much happening, at first. By the third glass, it was loam and soil galore, which was fine, I'm into this stuff, but not very much fruit. It was entering into the second hour, when the fruit joined the intensity of the earth and loam that the wine developed into the next level. I had little hope for this wine, but it's definitely a wine of place, a unique expression of the variety, and, at the end of the day, an interesting wine. Drink now or HOLD for another 3-5 years, this has lots of gas in the tank, and even more to reveal; might last another 10 years, we'll see. 13,5% abv., cork and fill in vg condition. recommended+
This wine is expressive, enjoyable at <65F, above that, dark-fruited, lifeless, anonymous.
A beautifully mature Aglianico with still some beautiful years of life ahead.
Eye of the beholder: Dark red with slightly mature brim. Nose: Started out with a lot of unpleasant odours, but they luckily blew away. Dark fruits and unrefined older signage. Palate: Beautifully concentrated, intense wine that stands firm like a boulder. Not overly refined, with a coarse structure and rough tannins. But, balance is impeccable and its presence is marvellous. There is a restraint on the composition, and a subtle level of maturity is upon us.
After three days, the final glass, under a cork in room temperature: Nose unbearably oxidized. But on the palate are now beautiful aromas of milk chocolate, leather, tea-leaves, La Garrigue and soft, red fruits. Tannins are now more to the point, and the whole structure is still coarse.
Glorious maturity with at least five more years on the plateau.

Fully mature, earthy. Balanced fruit, old wood, tar with fully integrated tannins. Decanted for 2 hours. Smooth as silk!
