Green pepper and currant on the nose upon opening. Very tight tannins and herbals on the palate. After 1 hour decant it opened up, but still has some green herbs (maybe oregano) and currant dominate. Mouth feel is elegant and smooth. Expected more spice from a CA syrah, but very enjoyable w a fatty smoked brisket.

Tasting blind, guessed syrah but Northern Rhone. Rustic aromas. Stewed green beans, meat, rubber, pepper, and blackberry. A little on the ripe side. Medium tannins.

Was really looking forward to this after looking at the other notes. I love Bergstrom's Pinots. This - I will say it depends on what you are looking for. This is a more elegant, fruit forward syrah - primarily red fruit - imho it is more like a Cotes-du-rhone than a full bodied syrah. 45 minute decant. V - Clear, medium ruby, with hints of purple. Not deep as some have stated. N - Both red and dark fruit. Bit of bramble and sourdough. P - Burst of red fruit, then it fades, with a bit of an iron finish. Medium body, med+ acid, fine med+ tannins, medium length and med+ complexity. Will be interesting to compare to the Wash gargantua and see if there is more to it.

Deep dark color. Smoke and cassis on the nose. Dark fruits, very rich mouthfeel. A little spice on the back end of a long finish.
