  • This is a weird wine to rate because it’s hard to understand. The nose alone is quite Bordelais, with dried herbs and cassis. It’s open and has what smells like but can’t possibly be tertiary notes of cigar and bay leaf. On the nose, blinded I would have called 2008 left bank. But the palate is a totally different experience with candied red fruit and a smooth, polished delivery, a la teeter totter or lower end Melka wines. And it tasted just fine, but was unexpected. Old BDX aromatics, young cab on the palate. I’ve scarcely tried a wine that made less sense to me.
