The Golden Glass (Herbst Pavilion, Fort Mason, San Francisco): It's the end of the day and i'd stopped taking notes, but this was impressive. Fresh red berries and baking spice aromatics, reminiscent of a young RRV pinot noir. Surprisingly medium bodied and delicate for the grape. From the distributor: "Sicone" is a deep ruby red with a spicy nose, velvety mouth-feel, and elegant tannins. Cherry, blackberry, violet, licorice, bitter chocolate, and black pepper pair perfectly with roasts, especially lamb, pecorino and ripe cheeses, sausage and game.

Ruby with an orange hue. Ash and creosete, plum and razzberry on the nose. A more tradtionally styled wine, this mid level aglianico is a[pproachable now. It has an elegant mouthfeel, raspberry, tobacco, silky tannins, and a pleasant, dry finish.
