  • Orange peel, toasted bread, bitter honey, toasted walnut, green almond, autolytic yeast, fennel seed and marshmallow on the nose. Pretty fruit backward nose. The palate is much less so. The orange peel flavors are pretty intense and notes of lemon peel and grapefruit juice. Intensity of aromas is medium +, intensity of flavors is medium.

Texturally rounded and pretty viscous-y. Medium + body with medium acid. I always enjoy this wine. Great pairing with broiled cod.

  • Tasted side by side with 2017 La Staffa Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore.

This wine was less developed and more on the un-fruity side. Orange blossom, grounded almond, bees wax and wet gravel stands out from a base of ripe yellow apple, peach and ripe citrus.

Medium acidity, medium bodied and a broader mouthfeel (if that makes any sense) with some nice texture. Still quite youthful and vibrant on the palate. Very good intensity and length.

Where the La Staffa drinking at peak now this wine still has some upside even though it's drinking really well right now. Good wine!
