  Kleur: Robijnrood met - na 16 jaar - nog steeds een paarsige vleug. Aroma / bouquet: Verleidelijk en geparfumeerd, zoetig kersenfruit, pruimen en dadels, verfijnd hout, vanille. Na enige tijd beluchting: Mon Cherie (pure chocolade, geconfijte kers, kersenlikeur). Smaak / Afdronk: Wow. Deze wijn toont zich ook in de mond na 16 jaar nog jeugdig. Friszure start, gevolgd door retronasale indrukken van weelderig donker fruit, boordevol krachtige en mooi gerijpte tannines. Uitgesproken hoog smaakniveau met een ultieme balans. Geweldig lange afdronk. Algemeen / potentieel: Indrukwekkende Rioja die na 16 jaar nog opvallend jeugdig en vitaal toont, een wijn met ongetwijfeld nog een geweldig lange toekomst voor zich.   Color: Ruby red with - after 16 years - still a purplish hue. Aroma / bouquet: Seductive and perfumed, sweet cherry fruit, plum and dates, refined wood, vanilla. After some time aeration: Mon Cherie (dark chocolate, candied cherry, cherry liqueur). Taste / Finish: Wow. This wine is still youthful in the mouth after 16 years. Fresh start, followed by retronasal impressions of luscious dark fruit, packed with powerful and beautifully aged tannins. Pronounced high taste level with an ultimate balance. Great long aftertaste. General / potential: Impressive Rioja that after 16 years still shows remarkably youthful and vital, a wine with undoubtedly a great long future ahead of it. Extremely good at this stage and perhaps on the way to perfection. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Taste / Finish: 20 + General / potential: 9 = 98/100

  OMG !!!! This is for the loooong haul. I gave this a holy 6 h decant an this was sooo tight !!! All in ! Gorgeous fruit, tannin, acid, cool climate with big body. Wait .... i dont know !! Wait minimum of 5 years. Better 10 ! 94++

  2004 Rioja Tasting Nov-14: (Big disappointment on the night, given the cost - terrible value for money). Elegant nose of cherry and berry. Tart plum and strawberry, cedar. smooth balance and medium-long finish, refined, seems to lack complexity, very good but far from extraordinary. Either or failure or needs more time, but the fact that the wine felt mature in its smoothness hints not.

  Hazy dark purple. A restrained expression on the nose with red berries as well as vanilla from oak. A harmonious, elegant combination of fruit, oak and tannins with the overall acidity.

  Pure alcohol on the nose. Absolutely nothing else coming through. Actually asked the Somm if it was ok. Tasted nice, with light bright fruit and great balance, but on the finish the alcohol came back with afterburners.
