My very first single varietal of Touriga Franca and a truly magnificent experience not to mention being the very first vintage of this new project by Manuel Lobo. Aged for 18 months in FR oak, it has deep opaque ruby colour with purple tinge. Rich and complex aroma of earth, blackberries, mulberries, tobacco, garrigue, violets, dry leaves and herbs, toffee, vanilla. Medium+ body, complex and alluring, such and elegance with incredible depth coated in lean texture, silky tannins and very long seductive finish.

N: very ripe but not baked/jammy berry fruit (blackberries, black plum), very juicy nature, plus notes of sweetness, coconuty notes probably from new oak. With time, some liquorice, and light meatiness coming through. P: medium alcohol with very fresh acidity here which really brightens the palate. Powdery, soft, ripe tannins - nice balance. Long finish.
The balance here is great, juicy fruit and spice. Still lots of oak here, but I think this could age really nicely to integrate, suggested by the slight meaty note. Strong family resemblance, but more of medium style with softer tannin and fresher acidity. Very nice. One to drink whilst locking away the others.
