  Think this is my first bourbon barrel wine. It was a gift. I’m not sure it was properly cellared, as the bottle is very much a center piece. The bourbon barrel probably doesn’t hurt anything, but probably doesn’t help either. Seems that the finished wine before barrel aging has a decent pedigree all its own. Really dark purple color. Black cherry nose. Close to full bodied Cab Franc like tannins. Mature acid . Ridiculous high alcohol like 15.9. Dark fruit, road tar and black licorice on the finish.
