  • My last of a 3-pack. I do think these deserve more time in bottle, so I’m rounding my 92+ up.

As I’ve experienced with all 00 wines, these really need either a quick decant or at least remove the cork for a bit before consuming, because the reductive flair is always apparent (albeit in different ways). Starts off with a musty, reductive funk but after 30mins, that funk evolves to a more sweet smoke/sweet spice aromatic (though I’ve noticed the sweet smoke more on the single vineyards, not the VGW or EGW). With additional time, honeysuckle, lemon cream, and faint pear show. It’s elegant and nicely balanced on the palate. Good harmony between texture and acidity. Stone fruits but also an underlying mineral vibe that lets you know this was made with Burgundy in mind. Wonderfully finesse driven and keeps you coming back for more.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, these wines are a nice middle point between burgundy and leaner domestic Pinots and Chardonnays.

  • This was very good; the nose was a bit reserved, but showed ripe apple, pear, a hint of lemon peel and floral notes; a whiff of some sweet spice; the texture is lovely with excellent density and great balance; long and lingering finish; paired next to a Ballot Millot Meurault Perrieres which I preferred, but not by a lot (a bit better minerality and energy). This was very nice, but not notably better than the EGW bottling for me.

  • Light gold in the glass, not a strong nose. A bit soft on the palate, but nicely integrated acidity. No strong oak, it is also well integrated. This is not a big wine, and certainly not a big CA chardonnay. To copy someone else's descriptor, it is a good bridge between Burgundy and domestic chardonnay. I do like the style, and I love pulling out the bottles, because everyone who knows it wants a taste, and those who don't are quite intrigued.

  • See 3/18 note. This was similar with maybe a tad more depth of flavors and a bit more textural weight. Very enjoyable!

  • Could easily pass for a Burg. Nose full of green apple, Myer lemon, wet stones, brioche. Palate reveals great but silky acidity, baking spice and sweet earth. Weighty mouth feel and long finale. Really tasty Oregon chard.
