not overly dark in colour, bright light gold, nose has a tinge of sherry like oxidation, apple and pear fruit, a little vanilla and almonds. Medium bodied, ripe and rounded but with a dry finish and almost some tannin as well as acidity. Flavours are more apple and pear with some peach notes on the finish. Lovely balance - this is pretty darn good.

I don't know what to think about this wine. There is abundant honeyed fruit: apple, pear, and floral notes, all very pleasant but with a weird oxidized character. Is this typical? Other notes here seem to indicate it is, but I haven't had a lot of white Riojas, and those I've had, didn't have this quality. It's almost Sherry-like but fruitier and lighter.

75% Viura and 25% Tempranillo Blanco both from a single vineyard and 90 year old vines. Barrel fermented in new French oak and matured in the same barrel for 4 months. Aromas show notes of pear, oxidized white peach and yellow apple with notes of white fig, almond oil, white flowers, sea breeze, Autumn leaves and chalk that give way to hints of vanilla, butterscotch and oak staves. The palate shows the weight of the Viura along with a clean acidity profile and moderate phenolics. Flavors of pear and yellow apple come with notes of slightly oxidized white peach and nectarine, white flowers, almonds and filberts, mineral, earth and oak. The finish lingers moderately.

It's like a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc got married, made sweet, sweet love and had this wine baby
