Villa Maria Tasting (WSPC): A blend of 3 vineyards (79% Keltern – 15% Lyons – 6% Coc…something), Keltern offers acidity, Lyons is riper, dense and richer, usually no malo here. Grapes are handpicked, wild fermented, 11 months in oak, 43% new oak, 50% malolactic -/- The wine is heavily based in oak, spicy, sweet spices, the fruit is in the back. Palate shows again dense oak, medium acidity, almonds, walnut, a touch peach, shows some tannins, rather one dimensional, medium body and finish

Under screwcap. Mid gold. Aromas of flinty minerals, nectarines and pears, baked apple and lemon citrus. A mouth of fresh, green apple acidity with lemon and grapefruit, nectarine and blanched almond. Not hugely complex but clean and not, to my palate, over-oaked. Decent concentration and depth. Acceptable length, finishing on some minerality. Drink from now to 2027+. I doubt it'll improve from here but it is possible. At present, 90.

Villa Maria Chardonnay releases w/ Kathrin Jankowiec (Villia Maria Auckland): Overripe white nectarine, peach, figs, creme brulee, clear and ripe citrus, pineapple. Exceptional.
