Taking to people who know BC wine the last few months, the Meyer Family Vineyards kept coming up.We rarely get their wines on shelves in Ontario, so when I made sure I grabbed one when I found one.
Ripe strawberries dominate the nose of this wine. That sets it up for a natural effervescence that is the first thing that hits your palette.
It does a wonderful, and unexpected turn on the palette getting into complex layers of pipe to a Ol, more mushrooms and calf leather.
Not the traditional Pinot Noir colour. A little darker than you’d expect. But in a way that seems to add to the wine’s overall mystery.
That strawberry forward tasting notes gives you acidity up front that does, eventually, balance.

At first thought it was smoke taint as it showed way too much char for a wine aged in neutral barrels. Blows off to show about of pleasantly cheesy funk with cherry raspberry cranberry celery and sage.
Nice mouthfeel. Crunchy red fruit with earthy and herbal savoury notes.
Not a long term keeper but will hold for three years or decant violently. if drinking in the near term.

A little murky, light red. Super fruity strawberry nose. Brightly flavoured, light red berries. Good. Drink it young, though.
