Very dark red with pink/purple rim. Reminds me of Australian Shiraz. Nose is quite oaky showing vanilla, dusty sawn wood and sweet spices. The fruit is savoury and dark reminiscent of blueberries and plum.
The palate does not quite live up to the promise of the bouquet but is pretty good. Medium tannins and acid with dark fruits and spice. It isn’t rich, rather, quite dry and took a bit of time in the decanter to show well.
I bought this wine out of curiosity and did not have any idea what it would be like. It is a modern, well made Portuguese wine from 100% Touriga Nacional. I find the finish a bit short and more fruit in the mid palate would be nice. However it is a good wine in its own right.

Nose is full and forward with aroma of ripe blueberries and plums, violet, some fresh sage and finished with good dose of toasted spices, vanilla pods and black pepper. Very similar aromatic profile to a bold Shiraz from McLaren Vale. Palate echoed the nose but it is elegant and smooth from entry to finish, very much medium-bodied structure only. Good refinement all round. Perhaps lacking some depth and length given the impression of the nose. Very fine tannins round off the mouthfeel. Ready to drink now and should continue to develop nicely for the next 2-3 years.

Winner from Del Douro. Big brother of the Pacheca vinhas velhas I had a while back. This big bro doesn’t need that much decant and is ready to drink. Similar to vinhas, bold with lotsa berries and dark fruit. Spice especially eucalyptus and cedar slowly reveal, with some hint of fresh grass and pebble. Balance on tannis and acidity. Very well structured with medium finish. Favorite among ladies during dinner. Again good QBR.

No detailed notes, but good acidity, balance and length.
