  • Tannins have softened substantially and wine has rounded out. Dark opaque purple-red. A bit of a stewed, damp, earthy taste. Drinks better with some meat than on its own.

  • Black center with a deep ruby rim. Interesting, funky nose of damp earth, mint leaf and cassis with some dark chocolate. Rustic and chewy on the palate, full bodied but light in flavor.

  • Dark violet. Classic charred bell pepper nose but plenty ripe, with more layers to the mostly black fruit showing up with air. Brimming with mouthwatering fruit from the attack all the way to the finish. Quaffable yet deeply satisfying stuff, although I’d still want to drink it all up in the next several years.

  • Dark red purple to the rim with medium thin legs in the glass including lots of sediment. Crème de cassis, minerals, and nuts on the nose. On the palate there is wonderful pure cabernet flavors with sweet black currant and berry combined with leafy undertones. This wine is full bodied with fresh acidity and good balance. Distinctive.

  • Deep purple-red color with with strong aromas of pencil lead shavings and graphite and hints of forest floor and elderberry. This is a dry medium bodied wine with lively acidity and medium tannins that are somewhat astringent. This wine tasted better the next day and decanting it would help as well. On the palate I found this wine was quite flavorful with pomegranate, stewed prunes, iodine, and damp earth showing through. The finish was not short nor long just somewhere in between. This is a red which is definitely more earthy and minerally than fruit forward. By itself it was quite unremarkable though once I added a nice juicy hamburger with Pt Reyes Blue cheese and some sweet potato fries this wine introduced its real self. 3/5
