Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 92.2 points

  • Medium intense purple. This gives a constant and intense stream of cherries in many shades, but overall rather onedimensional first. After 6-8 hours in the decanter it delivers some more complexity with strawberries, plums, cherries again, spices and vanilla. But I don't find the quality here for a wine deserving 98 points from the WA nor the nuances Gutiérrez is writing about. Not the "every sip is different" experience one might expect, but an elegant, with time moderately complex enjoyable red with outstanding concentration and intensity. 5/12/17/9

  • Open up for half hrs, and drink over 4 hrs

    Appearance: med ruby-purple with legs

On nose: med+ intensity, red fruit: cranberries, raspberry, red flora, orange peel, and some spiciness, after 2hrs later, it develops into wet stone and mineral, black tea leafiness and tobacco with a hint of vanilla oak. Lovely and pleasant development.

On palate : Med intensity flavor, high acidity, red fruit-forward, cranberries, raspberry, orange peel, with a very good structure given by the red fruit acidity, lingered with soft tannin and med alcohol. It brings you some mineral and leafiness at the back with med finishing. After 3 hrs, the structure was still there but the flavor had declined a lot.

This wine is surely a new-world style, not much elegancy but it does give us a contented aroma and doubtlessly it has a smooth and easy drink character. My wife loves it but I still prefer the old-world elegancy pinot from Burgundy. I think it could be drunk now or hold it for 3 more years.

  • A lot of tart cranberry notes, nice acidity, some earth on the slightly bitter finish. Not overly complex... solid, I like it, not sure a great value at $45?

  • Raspberry, red currant. strawberry, prune, earth, and a subtle hint of pepper. Tannins are elegant and integrate well with the fruit. Long beautiful finish. A stunning example of Patagonian Pinot.

  • Would be a fine find and good qpr at $13... delicious red fruit, smooth like a cherry Vanilla Coke, but no complexity or structure to give me any sense it will be a stunner after a few years.
