  • Australian and new Zealand tasting (Copenhagen): Aromas of blackberry and licorice, Too much oak. No further notes taken.

  • Black cherry colour; a thick core.
Nose of blackcurrants and cherries, with a little polished leather and maybe pencil lead; eucalyptus at the back of the nose. Cherry chocolates perhaps? And some herby notes?
Black fruits in the mouth, with a sour edge. A slight liquorice taste. Some cured meat. Possibly a little salty. Maybe struggling to find some balance. There's a little spice on a sour-ish finish

  • A deep velvety red with notes of blackcherry.
Nose of blackcurrant, blackberry and bramble leaf, concentrated and almost syrupy, stewed plums; but the, curiously, a biscuity aroma.
Deep black fruits to taste - fruit first but not overly so. Dry with silky, integrated tannins. A big mouthful and a long sour fruit finish. this is starting to get a good balance.

  • Black cherry colour.
Big fruit on the nose: cassis and then some chocolate; a little blackberry too, and a sweeter note. Inky and violety and perhaps a slight dampish aroma.
Huge fruit to taste, but with good structure and some dry tannins. Cassis and blackberry juice. Big and superficially quite simple, but with a sense that there are layers waiting to come through and become more defined. A long sour finish - in fact, there's a fermented note that goes on for ages. Next night: much more balanced and rounded - absolutely what we would have expected. This bodes well...

  • After decanting, this is already drinking very well. A nose of inky black fruits, violets and slightly fruity (raspberry?) chocolate; this sits over a base of black fruits - but the raspberry note still shows through. A hint of smokiness initially in the mouth, diluted and pleasant cassis with chocolate and a peppery finish that sometimes almost suggests chilli at the back of the throat. Later the fruit becomes more brambly and some of the spiciness dissipates.
