Bottled 2021. Supermarket purchase in Denmark. I’m not a huge fan of the tawny style, but this really has something ‘extra’ that elevates it to a memorable glass of wine. Nose is of course oxidative, with mixed nuts (leaning towards hazelnuts and brazils), brown sugar, bruised apples, sultanas and dried figs. Palate is wonderfully ‘alive’, with a glorious spike of acidity. The elegant, harmonious structure of sweetness, acid and tannin dances across the palate. Sticky, resinous and gently warming on the finish. Will buy another bottle if Bilka still has it.
